Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Evening game drive
Your 5 Days Uganda Wildlife and Gorilla Safari will begin with an early morning pick up from either Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel, heading west through Uganda’s beautiful countryside. The journey will take you past vibrant local communities, rolling hills, extensive tea plantations, and also fertile farmlands. Today after your early morning mouthwatering breakfast, you will drive to Kyambura Gorge for a briefing before beginning your chimpanzee trekking experience. Often called the “Valley of Apes,” this Gorge is a dramatic forested canyon carved deep into the savannah landscape of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The contrast between the lush tropical forest below and the open grasslands above creates a unique ecosystem that supports a variety of primates including Chimpanzees.
The trek takes you through dense vegetation and along forest trails in search for habituated chimpanzees. Once you locate them, you will spend 1 full hour observing these intelligent primates as they play, groom, feed, and move through the forest canopy. Other primates frequently encountered here include the black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and occasionally the blue monkeys. Birdlife within the gorge is equally impressive, with species like the blue-headed sunbirds, African broadbills, black bee-eaters, and various forest kingfishers often recorded.
After the trek, continue southwards through the renowned Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This remote wilderness is famous for its unique concentration of tree-climbing lions. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today is the highlight of your 5 Days Uganda safari. After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before starting your mountain gorilla trekking experience.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa. The trekking experience can vary from 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of your gorilla family. You will hike through dense rainforest, bamboo zones, and steep forested slopes in the company of experienced guides and trackers, while searching for one of the park’s habituated gorilla families.
The moment of encountering mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is truly unforgettable. You will spend one hour observing them as they interact within their family group.
